Class Size
Classes vary in size between theory and clinical instruction. Theory class maximum class size is 30 students with a student to instructor ratio of 30:1. Our lab/clinic maximum size is 20 with a student to instructor ratio of 20:1.
Physical Location
High Class Academy is located inside of a multi-business large building with individual entrances. Our Academy has nine salon barber chairs, three sinks, three dryers,
washer and dryer a back room for color room storage, facial bed. Nail tables for use by students when doing nails. DVD and dry erase boards.
Attendance Policy
Attendance is important. Students are expected to attend the Academy as called for in their contract. Four (4) or more unexcused absences in a month will result in suspension of a day for each unexcused absence. If a student has accumulated a total of twenty (20) unexcused absences, he/she will be dropped from the training. If for any reason you are unable to attend on a day you are scheduled to be in class, you are expected to call the Academy by 10:00am and explain your absence. Excused absences are illness or death in the immediate family.
Leave of Absence
A request for a leave of absence must be made in writing and approved by the Academy’s Director. A leave of absence may not exceed sixty (60) days. Medical leave requests must be accompanied by a doctor’s statement. Students are allowed one (1) leave of absence during their period of enrollment.
Maximum Time Frame
Students must complete their program within a specified time period. Time and a half are the maximum time frame to complete each program. Each student will be informed of their maximum time frame to complete their respective program.

Lunch Breaks
Students are entitled to a lunch break of up to one (1) hour. Students must clock out for lunch breaks. Any student needing additional time for lunch must get approval from the instructor. Students are entitled to a ten (10) minute break during each four (4) consecutive hours of school attendance.
Personal Appearance
Students dress and appearance shall fall within the general limits of cleanliness, good grooming and proper taste. Students will be required to wear an Academy shirt with black pants. Two shirts are included with the kit, students may purchase additional shirts for $20. Students must wear long smocks or aprons at all times. Jewelry is permitted as long as it does not interfere with styling or any of the services you will need to do. Piercings and perfumes are acceptable. Non-slip shoes are preferred, closed toe shoes are required. Smocks and/or aprons are issued to students at the time of enrollment and are included in the cost of the kit.
Conduct
When a student enrolls, the student agrees to conduct himself/herself in a manner that will enable the Academy to recommend him/her to prospective employers as a courteous, considerate and well-mannered individual. Students are required to conduct themselves professionally at all times and to treat patrons with courtesy and respect. Students are expected to respect and abide by the rules and regulations of the Academy and to conform to requirements of good citizenship. Students who do not do so will be suspended or terminated.
Clock Hours
A clock hour means a period of 60 minutes with a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction in the presence of an instructor. Clock hours are the total number of actual hours per week a student spends in attending class or other instructional activities that count toward the completion of the selected program.
Course Numbering System
Toni’s course numbering system reflects the corresponding course numbers for each course. The prefix are characters that represent the type of course and the suffix are the numbers that represent the sequence in which they are taught. With each course number and title there is a description of the course. The numbering system is independent and does not reflect prerequisites and corequisites.

Students are required to maintain a eighty percent (80%) average to remain in this program. Any student falling below this average will be placed on a 60-day probation to give them an opportunity to bring the grade up. If the student continues to remain below 80% the student will be terminated from the program.
Student’s records are available to students upon their request in writing. Requests for other transcripts or other documents must also be made in writing.
Refund Policy - Notice of Cancellation
(A fair and equitable settlement will apply for students who withdraw from enrollment.)
Should a student’s enrollment be terminated or canceled for any reason, all refunds will be made according to the following refund schedule:
Cancellation can be made in person, e-mail, by Certified Mail or by termination.
All monies will be refunded if the school does not accept the applicant or if the student cancels within three (3) business days after signing the enrollment agreement, and making initial payment.
Cancellation after the 3rd business day, but before the first day of class, results in a refund of all monies paid minus the registration fee (not to exceed $150.00).
Cancellation after attendance has begun, up to and including 40% completion of the program, will result in a Pro Rata refund computed on the number of hours completed to the total program hours.
Cancellation after completing 41% of the program will result in NO REFUND.
Termination Date: In calculating the refund due to a student, the last date of actual attendance by the student is used in the calculation unless earlier written notice is received.
Refunds will be made within 30 days of termination of the student’s enrollment or receipt of Cancellation Notice from student.
Re-admission
Students may re-establish satisfactory academic progress by meeting minimum attendance and academic requirements by the end of the probationary period. There is no readmission fee.
Policy Concerning Transfer Credits
Transfer Credits to High Class Academy:
Credit for previous training will be evaluated based on
a transcript of previous hours and services and granted if
appropriate. The training time will be reduced appropriately and the student will be notified prior to enrollment. It will be the policy of Toni’s Academy to accept
hours from another cosmetology school providing:
a) sufficient evidence is presented to our school that their
courses are equivalent to High Class Academy.
Transfer Credits from High Class Academy to another institution:
Transferability of credit from High Class Academy is at the discretion of the accepting institution, and that it is the student’s responsibility to confirm whether or not credits will be accepted by another institution of the student’s choice.
High Class Academy does not provide credit for work experience or for knowledge.

Make-Up Policy
High Class Academy is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Our students are expected to come to school according to their contract. If for any reason a student needs to be excused, they will be expected to make arrangements with the teacher to make up the time either online or on campus where curriculum dictates.
Determination of Progress Status
Students meeting the minimum requirements for academics and attendance at the evaluation point are considered to be making satisfactory academic progress until the next scheduled evaluation. These reports are available at all times for the student to view. We will have the student sign any evaluation that impacts the student’s eligibility for future financial aid, if applicable.
Warning
Students who fail to meet minimum requirements for attendance or academic progress are placed on a warning and are considered to be making satisfactory academic progress while during the warning period. The student will be given an “action plan” that advises them in writing on the actions required to attain satisfactory academic progress by the next evaluation. If at the end of the warning period, the student has still not met both the attendance and academic requirements, he/she may be placed on probation and if applicable, student may be deemed ineligible to receive Title IV funds.

Probation
Students who fail to meet minimum requirements for attendance or academic progress are placed on a warning and are considered to not be making satisfactory academic progress while during the warning period. The student will be given an "action plan" that advises them in writing on the actions required to attain satisfactory academic progress by the next evaluation.
Students who are progressing according to their specific academic plan will be considered making Satisfactory Academic Progress. The student will be advised in writing of the actions required to attain satisfactory academic progress by the next evaluation. If at the end of the probationary period, the student has still not met both the attendance and academic requirements required for satisfactory academic progress or by the academic plan, he/she will be determined as NOT making satisfactory academic progress.
Withdrawals
(Interruptions, Course Incompletes, Withdrawals)
If enrollment is temporarily interrupted for a Leave of Absence, the student will return to school in the same progress status as prior to the leave of absence. Hours elapsed during a leave of absence will extend the student’s contract period and maximum time frame by the same number of days taken in the leave of absence and will not be included in the student’s cumulative attendance percentage calculation. Students who withdraw prior to completion of the course and wish to re-enroll will return in the same satisfactory academic progress status as at the time of withdrawal.
Student & Career Services
Director / Instructors are available to assist students with academics and we encourage students to seek assistance when needed.
Students are assisted with placement and furnished with names and addresses of employment possibilities. Inquiries made to the school from potential employers will be posted on a bulletin board. Career services assistance is provided free of charge, nevertheless High Class Academy does not guarantee employment or salary upon graduation.
Counseling is available to all students for career and academic reasons. Students with issues of a personal nature will be referred to local public or private agencies for professional assistance.
School Policy
No Profanity.
Students must dress in a professional manner (smock/apron). No shorts.
Students must be well groomed at all times. No hats, head wraps or stocking caps. Jewelry is allowed as long as it does not interfere with your services. Non slip shoes are preferred, closed toe shoes are required. Perfume, piercings are acceptable.
Students are required to be courteous and professional at all times.
Any student caught cheating will be EXPELLED immediately.
Any student caught stealing will be EXPELLED immediately.
NO DRUGS or ALCOHOL permitted on premises.
Non-disruptive gum chewing is permitted.
Each student is required to clock in/out for themselves. If a student is caught clocking in/out for someone else, it will result in immediate termination from the program.
NO WEAPONS allowed on premises.

Each student is required to maintain a clean station as required.
Students are required to perform services as required.
Students are not permitted to use the business phone or cell phone while on the floor.
Daily assigned sanitation duties must be completed before clocking out.
Students will be notified of any changes made at the institution.
Anti-Hazing Policy
Hazing is any conduct or initiation that willfully or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any person. THIS IS PROHIBITED. Violation of this policy results in immediate TERMINATION from High Class Academy.
Non-discrimination Policy
High Class Academy prohibits discrimination against current or prospective students and employees on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected characteristic.
Appeals
A student who wishes to appeal the determination of unsatisfactory progress must submit a letter to the Academy Director within 30 days of the notification of unsatisfactory progress. The letter should describe any circumstances the student feels deserves further consideration. The school shall then have 20 days to review the information provided. An appeal decision will be made and the student will be notified accordingly within 10 days of the decision being made.
Student Complaints / Grievance Procedure
If during the course of a student’s training, a situation should arise that causes concern, or the student has a complaint about the educational process, the following steps should be taken to ensure the student’s concern or complaint is handled effectively:
Notification to the instructor of the problem and request for a conference as soon as possible or within 30 days.
If the concern or complaint is not resolved within 30 days following this meeting, a second conference may be requested with the Director of the Academy pertaining to the complaint or concern. A resolution should be attained within 30 days of meeting with the Director.
